The Turkish Makam has become one of the world’s great music traditions. This concert will explore pieces by Greek composers of Istanbul like Nikolaki and Petraki, as well as Greek folk tunes and dances.

Part of the Ensemble Reza midday concert series, rebetika songs from 1930s-50s, performed by Haroula Tsalpara, Gavrilos Kokonas, Pavlos Carvalho, and George Angelopoulos.

The final concert of the Rebetiko festival 2023 is dedicated to the songs of Markos Vamvakaris,
"The Patriarch of Rebetiko".
