Further to a series of performances and features on BBC Radio 3, Swedish National Radio and Froots, North London's Greek-fusion band Kourelou are officially launching their first album, 'Patchwork'. The album contains a mix of traditional songs as well as the band's own compositions. Three of the tracks have the signature of world acclaimed clarinettist Manos Achalinotopoulos who performed with Kourelou on BBC's 'Late Junction' in October 2016.

Kourelou is a Greek word meaning ‘Patchwork.’ The band draws on Greek roots as well as music from other areas of the South Balkans to produce a vibrant musical mash with a contemporary twist. Do not expect muzak versions of Zorba and do not bring plates to break. Instead get ready to experience music that has unbelievable traditional diversity and wealth in a way that is engaging, jazzy and dynamic.
Manos Achalinotopoulos, born raised in Athens is regarded as one of the best Greek clarinetists of his generation. He has performed in more than 35 countries around the world collaborating with artists such as Goran Bregovic, Peter Kowalt, Serkan Cagri, Ocay Temiz and Susheel Raman. He has also performed as a soloist with the London Symphony orchestra and New Zealands' national symphonic orchestra. His personal discography includes: "Hyacinth" (1998), "The tradition Clarinet" (1996), "Live in Amsterdam with Nederland Blazers Ensemble" (2003), "Zopirin" (2010) and "Flight on light" (2011).
